Strawberry Trifle Recipe

Gorgeous to look at and ridiculously delicious!

I love making trifles because they are so easy to put together and don't stress me out when I'm entertaining and have lots of other dishes to prepare.

This is not a traditional English trifle because the only fruit is strawberries, there's a biscuity crunch, delicate shreds of white chocolate and a hint of almond essence.

Instead of custard, this trifle has clouds of whipped cream. Please whip cold, heavy cream to stiff peaks instead of using cream out of a can or tub.

Make this trifle, especially when strawberries are in season. You won't be sorry!

TOTAL TIME

1 Hour

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 1/2 cups water

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract

  • 2 loaves pound cake, sliced

  • 4 cups heavy cream, whipped

  • 4 cups strawberries, cut in half

  • 2 packets almond biscuits, broken up (I use Kambly Caprice)

METHOD

  1. In a saucepan, boil sugar and water for about 7-10 minutes until you have a thick syrup. Cool syrup and add almond extract.

  2. Dip one side of cake slice in syrup and lay a single layer in a trifle bowl.

  3. Add layer of whipped cream.

  4. Add layer of strawberries.

  5. Add layer of biscuits.

  6. Add layer of shredded white chocolate.

  7. Repeat and top with whipped cream and decorate with strawberries and white chocolate.

Tips and Bits

You can make this in little ramekins for individual servings.

You can use Amaretti or any other crunchy almond biscuits.

You can add slivered, roasted almonds for added crunch and flavor.
